Jalen T., O.D.

Dr. Jalen T. Cook earned his undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in physical education, graduating Magna Cum Laude from East Tennessee State University while completing all pre-optometry courses. He then attended the Kentucky College of Optometry in Pikeville, KY, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree.

During his years in Optometry school, he is the Past President of the local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists and was a member of multiple civic organizations. During his externships, Dr. Cook was able to train in specialties such as RGP / Scleral contact lenses, Low Vision, Dry Eye Disease, and Pediatrics. He is board-certified by the National Board of Optometry.

He is a native of Bristol, Tennessee, and graduated from Tennessee High School, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He is happy to have the opportunity to return “home” and begin his practice in our community, surrounded by family and friends. His interests include basketball, snowboarding, bouldering, and many other outdoor activities.

Dr. Cook attributes his decision to become an optometrist to his desire to improve the vision and health of the people of this community while working in this field “for the glory of God.”
